Today, while looking through a stack of possible pictures for Facebook, I found one I really liked, until I noticed that I have recently developed a bald patch. Problem? I am a 22 year old woman. FML

Perhaps you should smell your shampoo to make sure no one replaced it with Nair.

I had that in high school and when I got into college they finally diagnosed me with Alopecia Areata. You should look it up, you might have that. They put me on allergy medicine to help and so far I haven't gotten one since.

Yeah, my cousin found out she has alopecia areata a couple of years ago, and she was about 24 when she found out. Plus my dad has alopecia totalis/universalis. :( Of course, there are lots of other causes, you should go see a doctor.

Im sorry. :S You should go to the doctor's..

Do you perchance have anemia? I hear that can cause hairloss. Check your shampoo's ingredients, or go to the doctor. Actually, you should go, just in case it's actually something serious rather than something simple.

who cares! go to a doctor! it could be a ton worse and it's just hair

poor thing! at least you discovered it early! go to a doctor! :-)

You can also become bald because of high-stress situations or if you wear a ponytail in the same spot for a long time. Either way, you need to go to the doctor and get it looked at just in case.

Holy crap. Wearing my hair up in a ponytail every day could make me go bald?! 

If you do it in the same spot, and if you keep it in for a while. And, if it's really tight.

yes esp if you put it in tight while it's wet, too...it happened to my friend. Also if you sleep in ponytails I think it can happen, too. High stress situations cause balding because it happened to my grandmother when her son had an allergic reaction to a vaccine and he went into a coma for a month and technically died 3 times (he's alive now, btw)...

Amazing all the things stress and despair can cause. Hair loss, weight loss, vitamin loss (not attributed to weight loss), even loss of some motor skills and comprehensive abilities... just a general debilitation of your health. It's all temporary, for the most part, but it's still fascinating that it happens.

Yes. It wears down your hair in that spot. Essentially like getting really really bad split ends.
