Today, while my hometown mayor becomes a world-famous crackhead and douche-bag, here in the UK it has come to this: when people hear my accent and ask me if I'm American, it's less embarrassing just to say, "Yeah", rather than admit I'm Canadian. FML

Today, here in Canada, my father-in-law talked to me about how people who are "not Canadians" are destroying the country. He called me an "import" several times within the course of an hour. I've been a citizen for over twenty years. FML

Today, a customer asked me if I was English, because I was struggling to understand what he was saying. I said yes. He then called me a liar, and said I must be "one of them Polish immigrants." Oh, and he also had a thick Scottish accent. FML

Today, I've been living in Canada for past two years, and my friend from the States came to visit. He was talking about how Canadians are so polite, but I was in total denial, that he didn't know anything. While I was arguing with him, a guy in front of us walked into a pole, then apologized to it. FML

Today, it was my first day at school in the United States. Being from France, my French accent is really strong. After being made fun of all day, I met someone from Montreal. I was so excited and said, "Parlez-vous Français?" And his response? "HUH?!" FML

Today, I met my Canadian friend at the airport. As we were heading into the city, I told him not to worry about all the US stereotypes and that gun crime in my city is rare. A few hours later, we witnessed a guy get shot in the street in broad daylight. Now he's too scared to leave the house. FML

It's not that big of a deal, OP. He isn't the first politician to do drugs or have some sort of scandal going on. He won't be the last. Everyone has flaws and their problems.

It is somewhat strange for me to read that you feel ashamed for your mayor's behaviour... I'm from Italy and if I had to feel like you every time a politician acts wrong, I should be hidden in a veeeery deep hole. It's so sad to be Italian these days. (FML?) Definitely not your fault, OP. He's one Mayor in one city. Personally, I don't see why every country in the damn world has to know. Plus, other that all this other shit, I've been told he's the best Mayor T.O has had. And If he did Crack ONCE, big deal! Like 1 said, wasn't the first, probably won't be the last!

I need a third button saying "you're too dramatic", I don't understand why OP is defining himself through the actions of another. I'm proud to say that I live in T.O/ in Canada, OP either just admit to where you're from or grow up (I highly doubt that when the mayor of NewYork was found hanging around with prostitutes everyone was trying to hide their past).
