tdawgg tells us more.
We sell electrical wire by the foot, she may have a more handy family member at home that need it, but she did come back an hour later and got 50 feet... I think her computers in the middle of her backyard. :P. sad thing is, we deal with these kinds of requests ever day... Retail sucks!!

on the upside you have a really funny story to tell people at parties now.
I work with cab drivers and they suck they'll ask for us to give the bigest to plight and well sell them a roof light and they say not that.
111, that and the food service industry. I have people refuse to take their food/drinks because they forgot they ordered it on a regular basis.
OP, I'm a systems specialist and I have to deal with the same kind of people. "The computer is down." "Which one?" "The one in front of me." "......"
If she bought 50' of Cat5e that would be moronic of her, because you sell the 50' with the ends already made up and I believe it's cheaper than the 50' by the foot.
Service in general can drive a person crazy. Some of the requests I've gotten from web clients just sit in the wtf box.
it is generally cheaper buy the foot, depending on the brand. beck, I bought 1000 ft of cat6e for under $50.
That probably wasn't ever the dumbest thing someone asked all day.
Would you like to know what sucks more? Working at a little kids theme/amusement park.
Who the hell needs 1000 ft of cat6e?!?!
I'm sure you do, when I saw this I showed your post to my wife and asked her if she'd been to Home Depot lately.
137 - someone networking a (or several) entire house and aiming it into to 20 or more different cables
Uhh, what computer wire is she going after at Home Depot? Unless they sell Ethernet cable by the foot, in which case I'm not sure she's bright enough to know how to attach the plugs since she can't work out the concept of measuring distances..
Until the sweat drops down her balls and all these bitches crawl.
Down skeet skeet skeet motha *****, down skeet got damn .
No, what's mean is when customers just expect you to know how much they need without any measurements from them. When OP said "but ma'am I don't know how long that distance is" she should've said "oh well I think it's about (insert measurement here) long." It's not mean for a retail worker to point something out like this that is common sense. If you need a particular measurement of fabric, ribbon, wire, whatever it is, the CUSTOMER is responsible for taking those measurements and bringing them into the store. It's not the employees responsibility to magically know how much the customer needs. Pointing out that they don't know how long that distance is, is not mean, its common sense!
*Facepalm* It also had to be a fellow Canadian that wins the "most intelligent idiot" award to.
Did you tell her to cut vertically & not horizontally?
