Today, while working at Home Depot, I was asked to cut some wire. When I asked her how much, she said, "From my computer to the wall". After explaining for a while that I didn't know how far that is, she left. FML

tdawgg tells us more.

We sell electrical wire by the foot, she may have a more handy family member at home that need it, but she did come back an hour later and got 50 feet... I think her computers in the middle of her backyard. :P. sad thing is, we deal with these kinds of requests ever day... Retail sucks!!

Working in retail is one of the fastest ways to lose faith in society.

I would've given her 100' and said thank you come again in my best Apu voice!

I'm trying to figure out what kind of wire she could possibly need that goes from the wall to her computer that needs to be cut. Anyone?

Home depot sells power cord, or maybe she wanted aircraft wire to tie it in like a bike lock.

Sounds a little like the surround sound speaker cables...(audio cables that have exposed metal wires, not the red & white aux ones) She probably just needed a cable to go from her subwoofer/receiver to the speakers on the walls, but didn't know what to call them, and just bunched them all into the computer category since it may be hooked up to her computer's sound. That's the only one that could be cut that came to mind when I read this fml.

The only thing I could think of is a cat-5 cable.

I was thinking that too, but if she can make her own cat5, she ought to be smart enough to know OP needs the length.

Yes, geek mode shows in these comments!

Networking cable (cat5e) maybe, some houses are run with it alongside electrical, tho she would need to have networking experience to make a crossover with rj45s. Which is highly unlikely, due to the fact that the measurement she gave was "from the computer to the wall".

What an idiot. I bet that was good for a laugh OP.

Is that not a standard unit of measurement now?

Heh you didn't know that is a common measuring unit. From "computer to wall" is as far as "from tv to wall" People are funny sometimes. Sure you got a good laugh after she walked away.

That's why women shouldn't be allowed any where near that store. That's right I said it!!!!!!!

Should've just given her like 3-4 yards of wire. How far from the wall could the computer possibly be?

New requirement for working in retail, you must be psychic.

New? That's not a new requirement, we've had to be psychic for years where I work!

Wow. People are such idiots these days. ):
