Tough Love

Today, during a conversation with my in-laws, I opened up about my insecurities concerning my looks. My mother-in-law responded, "But you're not beautiful." She then repeated it. FML
I agree, your life sucks 5 095
You deserved it 495

Same thing different taste

Everyone is beautiful in someone's eyes. Low self-esteem is common and it was insensitive for your mother in-law to say that to you. While I can't be cliche and say "I'm sure you're beautiful" since we don't know what you look like, personality is what really shines the brightest within a group of decent people. Don't be too hard on yourself, we're all our own worst critic

I think your confidence and your body language is more important than your appearance. Shed your insecurities, you'll be very attractive for most people to see.

I don't understand what it is about mother-in-laws that makes them feel like they automatically have to become a complete ****. Mine is so batshit insane we had to completely cut her off and I plan on never seeing her again. My husband doesn't even care, he was so sick of her shit because every time he spoke to her all she wanted to talk about was me and nothing else. OP: I hope your husband at least defends you because if he doesn't that shows he has zero respect for you and you should RUN.
