Today, at work, my computer started acting up. I told my boss I could fix it, but he told me to call the IT department instead. Neither the IT technician or his supervisor could figure it out, so I showed them what was wrong and how to fix it. I was promptly fired for wasting 2 hours of company time. FML

Why did you even tell your boss in the first place? Just fix it, if you can. And if you knew what was wrong, why didn't you just tell the IT people when you called them. "Hey this is what's wrong with my computer. Come fix it, because Boss told me not to."

Well, they did not deserve you as an employee then.

As long as you know how to fix it, then why the **** you didn't ? instead you made a scene out of it.... Anyways still not a sufficient reason to be fired, so FUL.

Uhhh I would fight that if I were you.

they were obviously unappreciative of the backdoor you installed as well as that coup you staged in lebanon, add that to the Iranian terrorist group you helped fund using corporate funds. ydi for being a revolutionary terrorist cracker...

why didnt you just fix it without wasting time telling your boss if you knew what was wrong with it?

Some of you people obviously don't realize that his boss found out his computer was broken in some way, maybe while trying to use it. Nobody short of a complete moron would go to their boss and say "This shit is broken but I got it!" so the only logical explanation left is that the boss somehow realized him computer wasn't working.

maybe you should've kept your mouth shut in the first place.. why did you bother to tell your boss if you knew how to fix it yourself? drama boy..

YDI for being an attention *****. if you coulda fixed it, no need to call your boss, eh?

Maybe his boss came by and asked where his due report was and OP said they were having technical difficulties but thought they could resolve it. But then bossman says to call IT dept....

You're better off anyway. If they're that quick to get rid of you, that's not a place you want to work at anyway. Couldn't have been an engineering company though. In a few years, our middle and upper management have wasted more employee time and company money it's ridiculous. Ha, 2 hours? Good riddance to a horrible company.

sounds like you have a valid argument for a lawsuit for wrongful termination.
