Today, I was dumped. I ran home and cried and ranted on and on to my mother. After about 10 minutes of talking, she threw a book at my face and said, "No wonder he dumped you! You can't shut up!" FML

I think it's safe to assume that the OP is, at best, a teenager. I also think it's safe to assume this wasn't a relationship that had lasted too long. The OP would have said "I got dumped by my boyfriend of x-amount of months/years" to get more sympathy. Once you realise this, you'll see it's only fair that OP's mother threw a book at her. She probably wasn't even aiming for her face. As someone else said, the mother had probably been trying to get her attention the whole time she was ranting and finally just wanted her to calm the "f" down. There is nothing OK about carrying on like a lunatic and OP's mom would be a terrible parent if she didn't snap her out of it, because let's face it, it's really hardly worth the OP getting that upset.
