42, I completely agree with you. BOTH of my parents have been smoking for many years, they started way before I was even born, I know they didn't smoke around me when I was an infant but they have for many years after that. I'm 18 and I'm fine too :D

I don't think it's pointless at all to complain. People have the right to be out in the street without having to breath in foul air/smoke. I don't think it will be too long until smoking is out right banned in public, and then not too long after that, banned to smoke near people under 18. It seems fair to me anyway, and if you think it is OK for people to be hurting those near by, then i think you are far too ignorant to have an opinion. And to those who say smoking parents have done no harm: you don't know for sure, you could have turned out to be much fitter and healthier if they hadn't smoked.

Tobacco companies make entirely too much money for smoking to ever be banned completely. I guess it's possible for it to eventually be banned in public but I don't foresee it anytime soon. Call me ignorant, that's fine, but I'll stand by what I said. I dont appreciate breathing in air-polluting exhaust fumes from vehicles, but no one is bitching about that, nor are they going to ban polluting vehicles. Secondhand smoke is in no way the only thing, or even the worst thing, that's in the air.

She's just upset that people still choose how to live their lives instead of asking permission from the government like they teach in college. Oh and 2nd hand smoke.... explain to a 5 yr old highly allergic to smoke why she can NOT go to public places. Also calm her fears of death cause shes SO afraid that shes going to die. She has to have a nebulizer anytime she comes in contact with smoke from ciggarretes(sp). And her fear of death is justified. So I didnt just learn about 2nd hand smoke. Ohhh and Im one of those people allergic to smoke. I inhale any amount no matter how small and my throat starts closing up in a matter of minutes!
