What the…?

By tor - This FML is from back in 2009 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, one of my bosses came into work and told me that they had seen my dad's twin in the supermarket holding hands and kissing a much younger woman and her baby. My dad doesn't have a twin. FML

Um.. I think he meant to use "twin" as a phrase. I.E, "you could be twins!"

Is your dad the kind of person that a lot of people look like?

those kinda people suck.. ya never know who you've seen and who you haven't D:

Maybe he just meant that he looks like someone else?

Yeah that's what I was thinking, Well here's to hopeful thinking. But don't do ANYTHING till you know for sure!

Yeah that's what I was thinking too around here that's just an expression meaning that you saw someone who looked a lot like them

Uh...I don't know about you, but I've been told "I saw your twin today" a thousand times, talking about people I've never met. I think you're taking it out of context.

Maybe your dad decided to run for mayor. Was it open mouth?

At least they weren't quick to assume your dad's a player? =s But it definitely does suck, you had to hear it from your boss.

Don't stress it, man. If he was seen from afar, it's very possible that it wasn't him, so you're almost safe. Almost.

that sucks :| hopefully your boss just thought that they looked similar, which is why he said "twin"

I like how you put "and her baby" in there, as if it's somehow more offensive because he's kissing a baby, too, hahahaha.

Yes, it's not terrible to think that her father has a child she doesn't know about. The poor girl's boss was clearly trying to break the news that she saw the father out with another woman gently. Like, in a way that almost leaves some doubt even though there really isn't any.

So the **** what? He clearly meant a lookalike!

Hmm. I'm more inclined to think your boss said that knowing full well your dad probably doesn't have a twin, so as to pretend it was an innocent observation. That way he isn't the bad guy telling you something that unpleasant; rather, he'd know your reaction would be "What? My dad doesn't have a twin!" and he'd say something like "Oh. Holy crap. I didn't realize. I'm so sorry; I feel terrible now." etc.
