Who am I?

Today, after being with the company for over 3 years, I realised nobody really knows my name. This was after my boss was walking around a new staff member and couldn't introduce me. Neither could my colleague, who's been sitting next to me for the last 6 months. FML

Well it just looks like you need to be more outgoing! Go introduce yourself to people! Make friends!

I don't know the names of half the people I work with.

You'll be a mouse until you start changing into someone more outgoing. Try saying hi to co-workers. It won't be long before your talking. Or maybe you just work with a bunch self centered assholes. I'm on the fence on this one.

I have to say it's your fault for not engaging people more

This has to be a YDI. How can you possibly have worked somewhere for 3 years and not engaged with ANYBODY, including your boss and the person who sits next to you? Fair enough if you don't want to build any office friendships, but they should at least know your name...

Or ask the next guy if he saw the movie which released last weekend,or if he watched the match last evening.Just see what others bond at.Try to talk to the new staff guy. With you helping him as you must clearly be knowing more abt the job,you will be making new friends as well as be known as a helpful person. You are clearly not even infamous,in case you dont have a secret nickname that others know you by and have forgotten ur true name

I can not help but feel that you are totally responsible for this. If almost an entire office doesn't know your name after so long, chances are it's totally your fault. Speak up, make some work friends and don't be "that person" that always sits alone and keeps to themselves.
