We don't know OP was texting her boyfriend back - he could have just got the idea to text her while driving, and she didn't know he was texting her until after the fact. But she still should have told him not to text anyone while driving. No text message is that important. Now, if the two were texting back and forth and sitting right next to each other, that's just sad. Her boyfriend shouldn't even have a license if he texts someone sitting right next to him.
