Today, I was getting my picture taken. The woman taking it told me to smile, so I did, showing my teeth. She said, "Please, be serious about this." Slightly offended, I smiled with my mouth closed. She then said, "If you can't be serious, we won't do this." FML

Today, I was working at a portrait studio and was taking pictures of a little girl, I kept telling the girl to stop making silly faces when she smiles because her eyes go cross-eyed. After the third time I said it her mom grabbed the little girl and left. Turns out, she was naturally cross-eyed. FML

Today, we got our family pictures back from the printers. I complained to my mom about the ones she picked. "Oh don't worry," she said. "I had them photoshop out your gut." I was talking about my smile. FML

Today, I went to a work event and was having my picture taken with a coworker. Since we had done karaoke together, someone said we should pose like we were singing. I held my hand up like I was holding a mic and opened my mouth. It looked like I was performing a sex act. My boss glared at me. FML

Today, my workplace had a big employee photoshoot for an ad campaign. I was there all of 30 seconds before the photographer said, "What the fuck? Look guys, this ain't an ad for facial abortions." He then asked me and another colleague to step out of the shot. FML

Today, I sneezed while my ID photo was being taken. I look like a total moron in it. The photographer refused to retake the photo because I "clearly" faked the sneeze just to be funny. FML

Today, I was at the dentist and got laughing gas to lessen the anxiety I get from the numbing shots. When I was good and "relaxed", an assistant leaned real close and said, "Open wide." I just stared back at her and widened my eyes. She had to clarify she was talking about my mouth. Duh. FML

Grrr, I hate that. Not everyone can have a beauty pageant contestant smile. When I was a kid I had an overbite so when I smiled I looked like Bucky the Beaver. Every time my mom took my picture she bitched and moaned at me to stop giving her that 'ugly toothy grin.' Every ******* time. There was nothing I could do about it. My teeth were where they were. As a teen I got braces, not because my parents cared that my teeth were a crooked mess, but because all the neighbors got braces for their daughters and my parents pulled a 'monkey see, monkey do.' The fact that the braces corrected my orthodontic problems was completely incidental. Their purpose was to impress the neighbors with the fact that my parents sprung for braces for their daughter just like everyone else. When my braces came off, obviously my teeth were straight and the overbite was gone. I gave a big smile to my parents to show them. My mom snapped at me, "so you're FINALLY listening to me and keeping your teeth in your Goddamn mouth." Uh, no mom, that was the effect of having braces. Either she'd paid for them and honestly didn't know what they were for or was really just that much of an ass. That was 35 years ago and subsequent events have proven without a shadow of a doubt that she really is that much of an ass.
