Working here sucks

By people suck - 28/03/2015 04:16 - United States - Oakland

Today, while at work, a customer refused to speak louder, despite me asking her to do it several times. As a result, I took her order incorrectly. The customer then finally decided to raise her voice, but only to yell at me about my poor listening skills. FML

at my work i wanna put up a "this isnt a library, speak up!" sign, for this reason..

Next time, repeat the order back to the customer to make sure you heard right. If they get frustrated with you then, at least you can tell your management you were still trying to get the right order.

Sounds like literally any cashier position at a restaurant, so yeah, possibly.

Literally any public service job can have this problem. I work at a bakery and I get this a LOT. "I want a *mumble mumble* cookie" . . . "I'm sorry ma'am did you say peanut butter?" *completely ignores me, so I put peanut butter in the bag* "OMG I SAID CHOCOLATE CHIP WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU."

and that's why I moved from my jobs counter and into the kitchen far far away from the customers

Yeah OP. I hear you. (No pun intended). At least you tried so feel better for that. I find it heard to hear in certain situations and I feel stupid sometimes asking again and again BUT, it's the right thing to do. Feel good about yourself.

This is why I hate working on Drive Thru! There's some customers you want to box around the ears some days

*mumbles through order at bk drive thru* can i get a shake and some larges with pickles and a shake with pickles. and the pickles. and the pickles!

Sorry to hear OP :( im sure if you explained to your boss you could figure everything out!

I work at Walmart, and there are a lot of rude customers all the time

I work at Walmart too, sometimes I'm surprised at how rude customers can be with zero reason. Just walk right up to the register and start screaming demands.
