#6 had a kick ass idea that seemed fair logically and in terms of society. >:)
Its illeagal in the UK
i totally feel for you, FYL indeed
Hey who said it was the same company trying to hire him ? it's not his old job back, it's just the same job ("programmer") but in another company, whose salaries are way lower (that does suck). It's not illegal for one company to pay it's employees double than another company, as i recall. I wish i would get hired.. Here in France you need a college diploma to anything. Crap i do think i speak well enough english and spanishto guide some tourists around for minimum salary, but nooo they want diploma, 16 years of hardcode practice is not enough. On the other hand, mi fiancé who has 10 years experience in recruiting and HR cannot get any job, even a clerk job at minimum salary, because he is too "old" or "too many diplomas". So we are stuck. Crap i feel depressed now :(
I would have said, "That's cool with me but I'm going to do half my original work." =]
It depends on the state she's in. If she's in a "work at will" state, its perfectly legal. They can hire her at $350,000/year, get her to do a big project, fire her the morning its finished, and call her in the afternoon, offering her the same job at $10,000/year

wouldn't that be a bit illegal? firing you just to pay you less? it is kinda indirect but still.
Take your job back, just work half as much and see what you can get away with.
