A healthy diet will help you lose weight and control it. A healthy diet consists of cutting down extra calories, eat well balanced meals, don't stuff yourself to death, cut off snacks and junk foods, soda, foods that are high in sugar or fat. The diets that do not work are the ones when people take pills or starve themselves for a quick fix.

Diets don't work because they are normally short lived. What does work is a life style change. And yes, there is a difference.

98- cutting off those foods completely are the reason diets are short lived. People deprive themselves and when they finally and inevitably cave, they gain back all the weight they lost and more. Everything in moderation is the key. Plus exercise.

You're right, and I am happy for the op that her bf stood up to his rude mom for her. So many fmls concern SO's and spouses who stand by idly in circumstances like these. Op at least your bf is not a cowed mama's boy, that's what's important.

Regardless, it shows a lot of character that he stood up for his girlfriend instead of laughing it off or letting her get away with it. It's never nice to point out that someone has a weight problem. Especially since it could be due to illness or medication. Her boyfriend sounds like a keeper. :)
