The difference is OP's doctor knows her history and behaviour patterns; we don't. As many posts as we've seen here about made up SOs, I can't fault the shrink for asking. People don't usually waste money to brag for 50 minutes about how life is perfect.
Sometimes I curl up under my bed and pretend to be a carrot.
People tend to imagine others to be what they want and not who that person really is, especially in the beginning of a relationship. Certain anxiety and depression disorders can make this worse and when reality sets in, it can be painful. I don't think the Pdoc meant if the person was real, but rather the persona that the op is viewing him as. It is healthy to sit back and evaluate how you are idealizing someone, otherwise you can set yourself up for a massive crash.
Maybe he is! Or he's a ghost! :O
Or a llama, with a slight possibility of being a penguin.
Belguim?
Youre cute and we have the same birthday. True story.
Too good to be true, eh?? ;)
You definitely need a new shrink.
nah if u think he is real don't let anybody change that even if he's not
Seems ligit.....

I don't know what he's talking about. Imaginary people are the best! They're always there with you, no matter what! I prefer to capture mine and use them for hard labor but whatever works for you I guess.
Is the shrink real? A good way to determine would be to check your wallet and see if large amounts of money have gone missing.
