If she looks boyish, it doesn't mean she's ugly. A tomboyish short-haired girl wearing jeans might be confused with boy. However, such girl can also be incredibly cute. Don't forget it. Also his mom might be near-sighted.

I had this happen to me, I hacked my hair short because I'd had bald patches from being on medication, and it was starting to look weird. Bad enough that I wear rather girly glasses, but I'm an E cup. It's pretty clear that I am NOT A DUDE.
