Today, I told my father I'm going to a club with a friend and staying the night at my friend's place. He asked for my friend's name, number, and address so he knows where I'll be. I'm 30 years old. FML

Lokiara tells us more.

I'm OP. No, I do not live at home. I haven't lived at home in 5 years. I currently live in a different country and I am in my home country for the holidays. I preemptively tell my parents where I go because they tend to ask that question when I leave the house. It might be the fact that I am female, but I don't really know for certain.

"His house, his rules" only applies if she has no choice but to be there. She came home to spend time with them for the holiday. And she is not his "little girl" anymore. She'll always be his daughter but she is not some helpless little kid anymore. 30 is way too old for parents to treat their offspring this way.

ah, the joys of loving and caring fathers.

OP, I've know about people that don't comeback from a night at a club, most of them are over 25 years old. I don't think your dad is being overprotective, just cautious. It might be just me.

He sounds extremely overprotective, but its always smart to tell at least one person where you're going in case you go missing.

I'm in the same situation. Hopefully it'll pass.

overly protective parents huh... Well at least he cares for u =)

Give your father a fake name with an address and phone number that goes to a gay club. Would love to see his reaction when he calls the number.

If you live at home, it might be time to find your own place. If not, you're old enough to tell your father you're too old for that mess.

No matter how old you are, you can't stop a dad from being a dad. At the end of the day, you're still their child and they will take ALL safety precautions to ensure they can keep their baby(ies?) safe and sound. Nothing to do with age really.
