Adding insult to injury

Today, I was answering a text from one of my students asking me if they could retake a test. I thought I'd texted back, "No, you can't." Auto correct had used a more frequently used word: "No, you cunt." FML

WHY DOES EVERYONE HAVE AUTO CORRECT ON! bloody hell, its ur own damn fault for turning it on in the first place! seriously! and even if u do hav it on! why not check what you are about to send! instead of just type and said, and then. followed by 'oh shit it is supposed to be cant...' you totally deserved it!!

YES. I turned off autocorrect on my phone, and my iPod, the moment I started using them. I learned when dirty texting to my ex-girlfriend turned into a threat to "kick your puppy"

agreed. it seems unprofessional for professors to communicate with students via text. the majority of institutions recognize email as the official means of communication. ydi

You can lose your job for having that sort of communication with your students. No facebook, no nothing. Except on edline there is this text/email program..

That is absolutely not true everywhere, particularly if we're talking college, as opposed to high school. I know lots of people who are Facebook friends with their professors. And even if you're in high school, if you're on a team or something that goes on trips, it's not unreasonable to have the accompanying teacher's cell phone number.
