I know this is old, but I just have to say that pit bulls--despite what you hear on the news--were bred to be herding and family dogs. They were bred to be good with kids and people, and to be gentle. In addition, they were the American military's mascot during both World Wars symbolizing strength and loyalty. Any dog can be vicious--I was attacked by a collie mix when I was younger, for instance--it is all in how they are raised.

Today, I was resting in my house, enjoying some peace while my owner was away. Some stranger then aproached me the way my owner aproaches me when he feels like training me by hitting me with a stick and kicking me when I get it wrong. Not wanting to get beaten up by someone I am not terrorized of, I attacked him with all the rage I built up from bein abused daily by my owner. Turns out the stranger waned to scratch me behind the ears and pet my belly. FML.

You posted this as if it were their fault entirely. You shouldn't have assumed that simply because the dog is a pet, it's going to be friendly. It's not your pet, and you have no idea how they've raised it. They should have warned you if the dog has behavior issues or was taught to attack "intruders", but both parties were equally at fault here. Everyone is saying "sue them", but I'd be taking steps to get the dog taken away, if I were you. Have it placed with a better family or a rehab program for abused dogs, if you think its behavior is the result of abuse. And please, please don't fall prey to the misconception that pit bulls are a vicious breed - the personality of every individual dog is determined by their upbringing, regardless of breed.

I own two pit bulls, was raised with them from a very young age, and have never had a single problem. So everyone can FOD and rot in hell. Fucktards.

I have a pit and he hasnt bit anyone he is great with my yorkie poo and i have been around more pitbulls than you can shake a stick at and have never been biten but i have been biten by a golden retriever pits are the best breed of dog if you train them right i have been around so many dogs and so has my pit and he has been around kids and ppl to and he does amazing especialy with small dogs and kids you deserved it your clearly ignorant
