Bad boy!

Today, I dog-sat for my neighbors' pitbull. Weighing in at 100 pounds with a nasty bite, this dog is no lap dog, but I treated it as one - not knowing how deadly this dog could be - beckoning it towards me with my hand. I now have 6 stitches in my hand and arm, and the neighbors didn't pay me. FML

You've got to be kidding me. They're not even paying your doctor's bills? If my dog bit someone, I'd bend over backwards to help that someone so that they wouldn't get my dog put to sleep. What jerks you have for neighbors!

#2. Not all pitbulls are vicious. Most people would assume a family pet is friendly. The neighbors should have warned that their dog is mean. A good owner will socialize the dog so that it's not afraid of strangers. And if you know your dog doesn't like certain things, like people motioning it to come over, you tell them. You should sue. Dogs that bite people get put down.

this story is FAKE! when you get bitten by a dog (or a cat) they CANNOT give you stitches, because there is bacteria in the saliva of dogs and cats that can infect the wound if it is closed up. Dog and cat bites need to be healed OPENLY. I would know.. I got bit by my friend's (huge) dog in the summer of 2007 and i had to leave the wound open. It definitely needed stitches by the severity of the bite, but since it was a DOG bite, it had to heal open.. It was nasty. Now I have a cool scar. =)

First of all, that "pit bill" you dog-sat definitely was not a purebred. American Pit Bull Terriers range between 40-70lbs and AmStaffs are usually smaller than the APBT. Most of the pit bulls advertised by breeders are stocky, low to the ground, and absolutley huge. These are not true pits and have most likely been crossed with some other breed, usually a Mastiff or American Bulldog or something of that nature. So here is another prime example of people using the generic term "pit bull" to describe their dog that sort of looks like an APbt or AmStaff. Second of all, if you knew that the dog was not a lap dog, why would you beckon it over in the frist place? If you're going to dog-sit for someone you should have the smarts of knowing how to treat and approach a strange dog. Perhaps the dog was not socialized very well or is wary around strangers but it's pretty easy to see when a dog is uncomfortable or not. I own an APBT. He is a doll and is true to the breed; has a high prey drive but absolutely adores people and attention and wouldn't hurt them. It sucks that you got stitches but it was your own fault seeing as dogs do not attack just to be mean. They had to have been provoked and you most likely misread the dog's communication. I recommend that you not dog-sit ever again.

get that dog put down. Sue them all! that's what I'd do if I was American!

If you can't work things out peaceably, sue. Now, that said, you're pretty stupid for *assuming* a pit bull is friendly, when they're known to be potentially violent (I know they aren't all, pit bull owners, calm down). Still. Dumb neighbors. One of my friends has a pit bull and he won't let anyone be near it alone except for a handful of people that the dog knows well. He knows it's not safe.

stop being a bitch... its 6 stiches ... get over it... no way in hell is it the dogs fault... someone i dont know who starts radically doing stuff with their hands around me is catching a flying tornado punch to the gullet... no joke

Sue! A dog attacked my cat, and they had to pay his vet fees. Naturally, we took him to the most expensive vet in Palm Beach County.

That's horrible. If their dog doesn't like strangers and reacts to hand gestures by attacking, then they should have warned you about that. If someone asked me to take care of their dog, I would assume it was friendly, too.
