Today, I dog-sat for my neighbors' pitbull. Weighing in at 100 pounds with a nasty bite, this dog is no lap dog, but I treated it as one - not knowing how deadly this dog could be - beckoning it towards me with my hand. I now have 6 stitches in my hand and arm, and the neighbors didn't pay me. FML

Same thing different taste

Today, it was my next-door neighbor's birthday. Over the past year, his pitbull has attacked my stepdad several times and put some stiches on me. Lucky for us, the dog was finally put down. For his birthday my neighbor got a new, bigger, pitbull. FML

Today, the family dog was in the garbage and wouldn't stop eating. He is a large dog, and I had to put my arms around him and pull him out of the trash can. Well, he bit me so hard I was bleeding. My whole family is siding with the dog and saying it was my fault for not letting him eat. FML

Today, I was playing with my dog, teasing her, to cheer myself up after being dumped by my girlfriend. My dog bit me hard and I had to go to hospital. The dog has to be put down. FML

Today, the dog my now ex-boyfriend and I own together bit me bad enough that I needed stitches on my face and my hand... he then broke up with me and saying it was all too much for him and has kept the dog... FML

Adding insult to injury

Today, my mom's super spoiled small demon dog attacked my 3 year-old daughter, mauling her leg. Out of instinct, I kicked it away, causing it to fly across the room yelping. I picked up my daughter and took her straight to the hospital, where she got stitches. Later that night, I was greeted with a vet bill. FML

Today, I got bitten by my aunt's dog. My brother was holding the leash. He said he didn't pull the dog away from me because he didn't want to rip my shirt. Meanwhile, the dog was biting a penny-sized chunk out of my hip. FML

Today, while on my run, I was attacked by my neighbor's new dog. It apparently didn't like me running past their house and broke free from its chain. I now have stitches and was just told that I'm probably being taken to court for the emotional distress I caused her and the dog. FML

You've got to be kidding me. They're not even paying your doctor's bills? If my dog bit someone, I'd bend over backwards to help that someone so that they wouldn't get my dog put to sleep. What jerks you have for neighbors!

#2. Not all pitbulls are vicious. Most people would assume a family pet is friendly. The neighbors should have warned that their dog is mean. A good owner will socialize the dog so that it's not afraid of strangers. And if you know your dog doesn't like certain things, like people motioning it to come over, you tell them. You should sue. Dogs that bite people get put down.

No bad dogs, just bad owners. Plus if it's 100 lbs there is no way it is a pit bull, but I guess you can't cure ignorance.

I have 2 pits. They are both extremely affectionate and sweet towards every one they meet...men women and children and other dogs big and small. Saying all pits are vicious monsters is just ignorant. Ive never been bitten by a pit. Every pit ive ever met was friendly. I have however been bit by a poodle and now have a scar on my lip. Ive been chased by a lab and a collie numerous times when i was a kid. I never did anything to any of these dogs they were just mean...probably cause their owners were dicks....blame the dumbass people not the breed. ANY dog can attack without warning and ANY dog can be a gentle loving lush.

I dont know how OPs neighbors treat their dog or what the dogs past is like...but im guessing they dont socialize it or probably abuse it or it has been abused before. I dont blame the dog. I dont blame OP. i blame people. And yea you should definitley sue them.

all the people saying get the dog out down to get back st the owners... do you even remotely have a conscience? did it occur to you that the OP was a stranger in the dogs home? it was obviously threatened for whatever reason. the HUMANE thing to do would be to ask your neighbors to pay for your medical bill, and if they refuse, take them to court. animals should only be put down if they have a history of unprovoked violent behavior.

Are you kidding me? all these people telling to sue are idiots, not all pitbulls are like this, and the most likely to turn on people are german shephards, chihuahuas, chows, and little dogs. pitbulls are one of the most loyal, strong breeds. people are the reason they have bad reps. and jerks are the reason people are afraid of them.
