"Merde" is clearly informal, like something you would say to your friend for an exam. "Bonne chance" et "Bon courage" are the same thing, at least as a native I've never heard a difference between the two.
Shoulda changed it up. From French to British to German. lol
Hey, here's an idea, just say "sorry, when I'm working alone I like to do impressions"
I don't see a problem with this...but still if he comes in again you might need to remember to use it...but I think you'll be fine without it

Right? I was taught Parisian French but we spent some time going over other areas just to hear the different dialects and it's crazy how different they are. I can barely understand Cajun French because of the dialect. I actually did better with a coworker from the ivory coast.
Imagine how much worse it would be if he became a regular, or others heard the accent too and you had to do it for them too...
