But…

Today, I went to my retail job to buy some clothing. As soon as I walked through the doors, my manager yelled at me for not being in appropriate work clothes. I tried to explain that I was off the clock but he was having none of it. I got written up. FML

Some people need a brick to the face for how uptight they are. Sheesh. Go to HR. That's bogus.

Wow, that's bullshit. I wouldn't even sign that write up. Sorry you have such an ass of a boss.

Even if you signed the write up, take it to your boss's boss. He can't justify that--the store should want everyone's business. Including yours!

Omg. Wtf?? I would have fought that write-up. Don't sign any documents, that is ******* ridiculous.

Guess you should take your money elsewhere

What's up with these Canadian bosses eh?

He would have listened and THEN got out of my face...that's just me though!

Next time something like this happens, don't agree to sign the write up slip. The manager will have to take it higher up and then you'll be able to put in your words with his boss and straighten everything out. For now, since you went along with it, call HR.

im pretty sure he is not allowed to do that talk to your human resources manager get that shit cleared up

You need to go talk to your manager and let him know he made a mistake and tell him to remove the written from your file. If he refuses, go to his boss and make a complaint. If that does not work then go to worksafeBC.com and file a complaint under the workplace anti-bullying and harassment act. There are TONS of retail/customer service jobs in the lower mainland, so if you live in or near Vancouver there's no reason for you to waste your time being even a little bit tolerant about this. If you also speak another language you can pretty much work where you want at much better pay.
