Your boss has to pay you for the work. People forget to clock in many times, and a simple adjustment can be done by your boss. If he/she refuses thinking your lying there is a good chance that you working has been recorded on the video surveillance cameras as well as your coworker(s) seeing you work

Not wasted. Your boss needs to have a "plan B" for people who forget to clock in. By law you aren't required to work for free even if you forgot to clock in.
