Compliments are tricky

Today, I told my boyfriend he's handsome, which I do often. Not everyday, but maybe once or twice a week. He got upset at me. He said it makes him feel uncomfortable. We've been together for 3 years and I still think he's the most handsome man I've ever seen. FML

Men are usually so starved of affection that it makes us uncomfortable. Women get complimented almost every day, from hair, make up what you’re dressed in etc, men don’t get that so when we get told things like that it’s just weird and strange, but deep down he probably does like it, have a chat with him about it

He probably thinks you're making fun of him. If most people don't say he's handsome, he might think you're just screwing with him.

I can't get the visual of my own aunts, grandmother or some other woman being over affectionate, not letting go and outright aggravating while spewing that handsome little man crap.

I'm pretty sure that's probably her boyfriends problem. I couldn't stand it myself. Got a whooping once because I pushed off with my fist from someone. I had no idea who the woman was and squirming didn't work, got mad and pushed her face away with clinched fist. It upset people.

After 3 years you’d think you’d have learned he doesn’t like it and would stop making him uncomfortable unnecessarily stop being a shitty person

do you ever compliment who he is as a person?
