Today, it's been thirteen years since I divorced my husband for being too hard on our son. Since then, he's remarried and had two beautiful, well-behaved kids. My son, meanwhile, is a thieving hellion who doesn't care about anything but himself, and my ex wants nothing to do with him. FML

I have questions.. when you say "too hard on him" do you mean in terms of general discipline.. or does he use corporal punishment? Because if he hits kids, those kids are not "well-behaved", they are terrified of getting hit. As for your kid, I think you need to talk with a child psychologist and see what can be done to curb his behaviour.

Try and get that resolved while they're young. My friends brother is 40 and a disaster of a person, because the parents didn't take enough initiative early on.
