Disappointment

Today, I went to the bathroom on the way to class. After washing my hands, I couldn't figure out how to turn off the water. I finally resorted to asking a professor for help. She turned it off, looked me in the eyes and said, "Please don't tell me you're here on a scholarship." FML

How do you not know how to turn off the water? Better yet, how'd you even turn the water on in the first place?

I think OP having this as an FML showed the professor was right lol

Show it anyway

Sorry, I just can't let it go...*faucet

I had trouble turning an unfamiliar sink off just a few weeks ago. I was so embarrassed...but I just had to walk away.

I once got stuck in bathroom at a robotics competition until a janitor pointed out there were two separate doors, one to enter and one to exit.

The sink could have strange taps you know. At my high school, the taps aren't necessarily shaped like taps - it's a bit difficult to explain, but they're long, and like a metal stick almost. I've been going to that school for nearly 3 months and I still haven't figured out how to turn it on and off. I just carry antibacterial lotion with me now. But I can sort've relate to OP - he or she might have a weird tap.

I just wonder how u "don't know how to turn the faucet off" it's pretty self explanatory. If it's a sensor sink, it goes off by itself, and otherwise, there is some sort of knob

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure he meant you can't blame the teacher for saying what she said.

In her university they might have weird taps

Some places have those automatic ones that turn on when someone is close and don't turn off until you move away. But I don't believe this is the case with OP's story. I'm guessing the way to turn it off was quite obvious.

Guess it's a bit of a waste of tuition money innit?

Yeah, I thought that was odd. I can sort of see not being able to turn it on, if its a weird type of tap. But if you managed to turn it on, wouldn't off work pretty much the same way?

Exactly, you pretty much just have to do the reverse to turn it off.

You turned it on, right? Don't start what you can't finish.

Some of the sink designs we have are really irritatingly complicated.

I agree its almost as bad as trying to turn on the shower at someone else's house

But turning it on and then not being able to turn it off...?

I don't see why this got voted down. Phi Beta Kappa is a prestigious honor society.

We don't really have frat houses in Australia, what's the go with them?

#58 Phi Beta Kappa is not a fraternity, it is the honors society for students with high academic achievements, the comment is supposed to be ironic. You are thinking of things like Kappa Alpha or Sigma Phi, which are fraternities

Tell her that quite often highly intelligent people have little common sense. Case in point: my Dad has a PhD and can't change a lightbulb.

A PhD might be pretty useless if you're sitting in the dark.

Breaking news: educational degrees just mean that you can follow directions. They don't mean much in terms of intelligence.

So if I can follow the instructions on changing a lightbulb, I can get a Ph. D?

#12, no, even in the dark, we can still think great thoughts. Or dirty ones. Or both;)

#40 That only really applies for high school and below and even then, not as much.

I think ur dad doesn't want to change it so he pretend that he can't do it

what kind of faucet was it? and it was an honest mistake..

You think they applause that in crown school.
