that's an awful thing to do to you.
Looks like you have some terrible in-laws. It's pretty easy to prove if you were at work all day. That your wife doesn't believe you is particularly sad.
this happens sometimes to me, hopefully it's not weird for your job. i worked as an investment manager and some clients liked to meet at restaurants/bars. also, the wife is the liaison and lead consult at her company. she meets clients all the time in random parts of the city. 1.30 pm is a common ending time for lunch meetings for both of us. the time itself should be convincing evidence. in fact, we'll sometimes text the other person and tell them not to call except during an emergency for important clients. hopefully, this is the case and the fml is just making a standard situation sound bad.
then your wife's kind of a shit for brains, isn't she? you owe your in-laws one for helping you dodge a bullet.

Do they not have phones? Where is the photo anyone would have taken to prove such a claim? Why not confront you there and then? This reeks of bullshit. Hopefully someone can confirm your presence at work. Did you send any work emails at that time? It would be hard for your wife to imagine her parents would lie to her, but hopefully if you can show you didn't do anything wrong this time, you'll be the one she believes next time.
