your computer is probably crappy (Microsoft). best way to get back at it is to back it up.
Hey. :D My files just disappear randomly. But my computer had/has an overheating problem, which I think did a bit of damage to the motherboard and corrupted some shit. Programs randomly stop working too. And no, I have no viruses or anything. I like Windows better than any other operating system (Ok, partly because I don't know how to use Linux properly) but it can be a little buggy. Still, not so buggy that it would account for files disappearing.
you should start saving your work to a flashdrive just in case something like that happens again
