I do think in this case, YDI. The fact that your first action was to take something away and not talk about it instead of speaking to your son just indicates to me that this may have always been the "solution" - so if your son starts doing it because he's learned that's how you deal with problems, what else can be said?

That's bad parenting, plain and simple. Any kid raised right would never dream of pulling a stunt like this, especially when it puts his parents' health at risk. You brought this on yourself. Now it's up to you to set him straight before the nasty behaviour gets worse.
