Today, I gave blood for the first time, since I'm a universal donor. After it was done, I passed out, woke up, puked, and passed out again. The kind nurses told me I was the worst case they had seen all week. So much for doing something to help others. FML

While your experience was unpleasant your gift of life is admirable. Thank you OP

Unfortunately it happens, OP. I passed out the first time I have blood. Next time, try sipping some juice or water while you're donating. That normally helps me!

I agree. You say you didn't help, but your blood will absolutly make a difference for someone.

I think this is a good example of "the thought that counts."

They did actually donate though. They said they got sick afterward.

Usually "it's the thought that counts" implies that the gift failed but was given from the right place. #30 was saying that the gift didn't fail at all so it's more than just the thought that counts.

"Worst they had seen all week" That's also what my ex girlfriend told me ;-;

I gave blood just before soccer practice once... Yeah, that didn't end well. You're not alone, OP.

They are supposed to tell you not to do any exercise after donating.

Sounds like your blood pressure or sugar majorly dropped... They should have monitored both though, so it sounds like you aren't exactly at fault. Next time ask them if they can check them before you donate, if you choose to again.

maybe you're a vampire and you need to drink blood instead of give it
