Don't take medical advice from teachers

Today, I got a splinter in my shop class. The teacher dug at it with tweezers for a while, then told me that my best bet would be to wait until the wound got infected and formed a bunch of pus around the splinter to force it out. It's in my dominant hand's palm. FML

You have two choices here. You could either listen to your teacher, or go see a qualified doctor.

Cut your whole hand off OP. Trust me, I'm a doctor.

Seriously, take the razor that you shave your legs or face with and lightly go in the opposite direction the Splinter went in and shave the skin off and it will probably slide right out. My phone obviously capitalized the word Splinter because he is the leader of the Ninja Turtles.

Cut a tomato, put a thick slice on the area where the splinter sits, put some -I don't know the right english word- plastic wrap around it and wait for at least 3 hours or overnight. Then getting the splinter out with a needle or tweezers will be easy. Only works with wood splinters! It's working so great (banana peel should work also but we only used tomato slices, so I can absolutely recommend it!) Hope this helps :-)

take a shot glass, the taller ones and a match cut the match in half strike it and let it burn for a couple of seconds. blow it out IN the shot glass and cover the top of the glass with your hand the splinter as close to the middle as possible. The suction will pull the splinter out. you may have to do it two or three times if its really deep

If you are a man then I really hope you don't end up with it In your dick later

Just just a needle to dig it out. It won't hurt if you do it right

Soak it in water until it's all wrinkly, cover your palm in baby powder and dig it out

Okay so what you do is get masking tape or duct tape and put it over the splinter then pull it off fast if the splinter is far enough out is should get it of not just wait for it to fall out naturally

Use a pocket knife and dig it out.

man up i once cut my index finger and had to fret a guitar were the string kept going into the cut

That is actually true. Of course don't wait until it's infected, then it's gone too far, but your body will push it out naturally. It's a little sensitive but it doesn't hurt much. Usually doesn't take more than a week. You can pick of the top layer of skin with a clean sewing needle to speed up the process
