Double standard

Today, I spent five hours sobbing in my room due to antidepressant withdrawal. My mother refused to come and talk to me, because I'm "a terrible, hateful child who only cares about herself." Last week, I spent two hours comforting her because my brother hadn't called in a week. FML

12- even when you gradually come off anti depressants there are withdrawal effects, like nausea, headaches, insomnia and uncontrollable emotions because of the nature of the drug.

Be careful, OP. I didn't have time to see a doctor to get a refill on one of mine and I ended up having a withdrawal seizure. It can be a really serious thing.

Sometimes people need to come off them urgently due to adverse effects.

Stop being depressed, life is short.

Being depressed isn't exactly OP's fault when her mother speaks to her like that. Depression isn't something you can control.

Yeah.. Because 'not being depressed' is just so easy. C'mon now! You couldn't think of anything better to say?

Yeah, OP! Tell your brain to stop having the wrong hormone balance and stop being depressed! In all seriousness now, I'm really sorry to hear that OP. I hope you get your medication again soon and that your mom sees what kind of bitch she is. I can understand why you're depressed if she's like that.

Stop being a jerk! Life is short! Too short to have ppl constantly say stop being down or crying.

Your mom is a 'terrible, hateful woman who only cares about herself' and she made one of her children feel bad for no reason. No wonder her son won't call her....

No wonder OP is depressed. That witch can't be doing her much good.

How the hell does her age make a difference? Teens can have depression as can adults, and it's extremely prevalent among the elderly.

I've been depressed since I was 11. Antidepressants since I was 15. Age is irrelevant.

Depression hurts. Symbalta can help.

I have had bad experiences with Cymbalta. I'm more of a Zoloft guy myself.

Sounds like you need something different. Just because you had adverse reactions doesn't mean everyone will. As it just so happens, I take Cymbalta and I don't have any problems with it.
