Double standard

Today, I spent five hours sobbing in my room due to antidepressant withdrawal. My mother refused to come and talk to me, because I'm "a terrible, hateful child who only cares about herself." Last week, I spent two hours comforting her because my brother hadn't called in a week. FML

Op, once you move away from your mother, your depression will go away. Sounds like She is the reason you were on anti depressants.

I concur. Move out. Get a pet. Puppies not perscriptions.

Pills require less maintenance and, if you have good insurance, are less expensive in the long run. Pets are a privilege, not a right. I fee for you, OP. My husband's mom can be like that at times.

I don't think your the only one who needs to be on meds... I also think you're better off still taking an anti depressant

and withdrawals don't typically make you act that way... you'd get dizzy spells and heart flutters and headaches not get horribly depressed and cry... there are mental health clinics that help people on a sliding scale basis

Withdrawal symptoms are different depending on the drug you're taking. It has been documented that people trying to quit anti-depressants have withdrawal symptoms of anxiety as well as depression that was even worse than before they took the pills. So it makes sense that the OP reacted in that manner with withdrawal symptoms.

Sorry op:( Hope you're old enough to move out for your own good.

59 - Go read the geeric name for Tylenol and tell us again how it is related to ADHD medication and an antidepressant.

golly.. with a mom like that i wonder why you even needed anti-depressants in the first place! *eyeroll* also to ANYONE in the comments above who gave medical advice, screw you. you have NO Idea what OP's situation or health, mental or physical, is. So you have absolutely no leg to stand on on what OP *should* do. Even if you're a doc, unless you have seen the patient and understand their history... no room to make assumptions.

I know they might not know her medical condition but they were only trying to help

Okay Barbie I wanna be just like you! Perfect. You know everything and should be the only one allowed to leave a comment!

This is so funny. U cant get ahold of and pills so it's not ur prescript. So u need drugs and u don't feel good cause u don't have them and u want ur mom to comfort you. Stop popping pills and u won't have a problem

Or, it could be because the mother is refusing to purchase the refill. It could be because the mother is refusing to pay for the doctor's visit required to refill her subscription. It could be that her medical insurance has run out or got changed and her doctor/the pills are not covered under that new medical insurance. Do you see how you look when you make grandiose and very cruel assumptions of people? You don't know the situation behind why she cannot get her pills, so you really shouldn't start pontificating and trying to make the OP look like a worthless junkie.

i kind of love you for this reply.

You didnt make a good point. all you did is make an excuse for her. She didn't say my mom won't get me my pills. She said I'm having withdrawals and crying in my room and no one will comfort her. She's a pill head. So tired of hearing oh I'm depressed. Unless u lost a family member or ur a war veteran than I don't believe in depression. She needs rehab not a hug

You're what's called a "fucktard". Depression has many shapes and forms, and is sometimes not due to traumatic events. I will say that the majority of depression cases can be treated without pills, but doctors unfortunately prefer this method and prescribe them left and right, which can often ultimately result in an addiction, through no fault of the patient.
