Ewwww, gross

Today, at my job serving, I went to clear the plates when a guy said, "Hold on a second." Thinking he wasn't quite finished, I went to put the plate back. He then reached into his mouth, pulled out a dark brown object and threw it on the plate. It was a rotten tooth. I almost puked. FML

OP here. Yes it was a tooth because he said so himself. I didn't have room to add that part. It is not at a dive place or anything, in fact, it is in a casino. There are all types of people there from low lifes to decent people. Needless to say, I am leaving the service industry in a couple weeks after 7 years of mostly bartending. Thanks for the overwhelming support that I didn't deserve seeing that though.

I have always insisted being a waiter is one of the least appreciated jobs. You deal with assholes, and the amount of cash you bring home pretty relies on their generosity (tips).

I worked in a casino. the dregs of society would go there. seriously, 90% of the people had a gambling problem. we had people pee their pants because they did not want to stop playing to use the bathroom, because the next pull will be a big win. more than once, people shit themselves playing. it was the most depressing job ever.

so in Canada, free health care must not include going to the dentist! that's just wrong.

Canadian health insurance varies by province, as each has it's own medical plan. I grew up in Ontario, and so I have an OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) card. In Ontario, that covers all doctor's visits, and all non-cosmetic hospital visits. Psychiatrists are also covered, as are psychologists if you are considered a danger to yourself and cannot afford counselling. Dentistry and Optometry and not included because they do not carry medical doctor degrees. This means that all Ontarians pay for their own oral care and eye care if they do not have their own insurance to cover it. Now, I just moved to Saskatchewan, and it's different here. Here, a certain percentage of dental is also covered... Not sure about eye care. But yeah. When we say we have "free health care"... It can be misleading. We still pay for the dentist, and still pay for optometrists... And even if someone can go to the doctor for free, that doesn't mean that they can afford any prescriptions they need.

In Quebec it's the same as in Ontario, we have to pay for the dentist and the optometrist but a lot of companies or the government (for federal government workers) have a health care insurance plan in place that covers part of the cost for both of the above. In Quebec, the optometrist is free for kids under 18 though.

Totally understand some customers r nasty
