Today, it was my first day at my new job. I had to break up two fistfights, then leave work early with a black eye. This is not what I had in mind when I applied to work at a retirement home. FML

Hopefully they'll give you a raise or something. Never knew working with senior citizens was so dangerous

After seeing my Nan in a home for a year and a half, I'd believe it. Especially in the Dementia ward.

They should require you to don body armor when you enter a dementia ward. I work in one on occasion and I don't know what's less fun to be hit with - a thrown punch or thrown food/poop/whatever's within reach. Not pretty!
