Today, it was my first day at my new job. I had to break up two fistfights, then leave work early with a black eye. This is not what I had in mind when I applied to work at a retirement home. FML

I'm sorry that happened to you. My sister works at a retirement home as well. She's come home with bruises, bite marks and has been spit on. It can be pretty rough even though you're working with the elderly.

I'm a cna and I gotta say the worst thing to happen is when a resident gives you a gummy bear ( bites you without dentures in) its so disgusting.

I know 48. But oddly enough not a lot of things gross me out anymore. I don't even get grossed out when I step in human crap at work anymore or have to help nurses with bandage changes.
