If they didn't tell you, you weren't fired and they have to pay you for the shifts you worked. They may have meant to tell you sooner, but it doesn't make a difference; it doesn't go into effect until they tell you.
Agreed with 48. Sucks anyway, but you should still be able to get paid for the time you worked since being "fired" if they failed to tell you. Also, what sort of boss forgets to tell an employee that s/he's fired? Way more company fail than yours...
I've been at places that schedule shifts in two week increments - and one business does it monthly. (if you want a day off, you have to trade - there are no requests allowed). Also a time clock doesn't mean that a machine reads your name. At my last place, our timesheets were for two weeks. It wasn't until the manager collected up the time cards, that anyone would have any idea who punched in on which card. Many places still use paper punches rather than employee scan cards I don't know about the real world, but in the university, students were fired without being informed of it. They'd show up for work asking why they weren't on the schedule. The same happened at a restaurant I worked at (in the case the girl came and saw a line through her name and shifts). Othertimes people were "going to be fired as soon as a replacement was found and trained" and we weren't to tell them until that happened.
Did they take your stapler too?
44,45 and the rest of you republican idiots. I majored in Econ so take ur right wing politics elsewhere. look at what bush did, ur hero. I know what I'm tAlking about. firing ppl needs to be illegal. take the cost out of the CEO pay
If you did major in econ (proud_liberal) you would understand econ. You see, becuase we all rely on a monetary system, we need to have monetary units to continue the system. In layman's terms, you need money to spend money. Even with a cut back on CEO pay, that is, even if the CEO earned the same amount (or if everyone earned the same amount) he/she would still need money. One reason people are fired is because the company will become bankrupt. If firing people is illegal, we would create a communist system. Let's travel back in time. During the reign of Stalin. People were given jobs and recieved pay. They could not be fired. So, people drank on the job and did absolutely NO work. In the end, the communist society collapsed. What you propose is communism. As an american, I am sure you wouldn't want Communism. And besides, look at Iran. What has your hero done there? Personally, I don't look up to government officials. And government has failed us repeatedly, and vice versa. It's not overly fantastic. I won't change your opinion, and you will probably bite my head off. I just wanted to offer some insight.
lemme guess Proud liberal you JUST got out of college, right? little bit of advice... college isn't like the real world... at all so youre not going to listen to any common sense, and obviously Hawksyu and I aren't going to change your mind... the only reason I continue this is because I want to try and understand where youre coming from, all these other guys should be aware of the crazies like you and its funny watching you lose this argument. alright the gov't has no athority to stick it's hands in the private sector If you really want to cut CEO pay then you should organize a CEO pay cut strike and if you don't do that then its obviously it's not THAT important to you. The CEOs worked their asses off to get where they are and now youre going to try to demonize their success? You should be like " thats where I want to be in 10 years" not "ohh, those greedy bastards got lucky and I hate them " second if you want to take money from anyone who is "making too much" it should be actors/actresses cuz they get like 20 mill for 6 months of work and I'll put another hole in your "perfect scocioty (spelled that wrong)" if no one can get fired, then no one can get promoted, what if the OP was slacking off at his job and the company found someone better to replace him??? (not saying that this happened to the OP just saying that this is a main reason people are fired) 1 more metaphore What if in your Econ class, no one could Fail? What if the Prof. just took points off the highest grades to add to the failing ones? How hard would you work? not hard at all and you wouldn't do anything, this is what you are proposing we do to america and IT WONT WORK Another liberal Tactic- making generalizations and unorthadox assumpsions aka bush wasn't/ isn't my hero reagan is now I answered all of your questions will you answer mine? (this post and last post) or do you know that you are wrong? will you not post again? cuz you are scared of losing what little credibiltiy you have left (spelling not my strong point) please see the error in your ways and if I wasn't clear in this post or #43 let me know so I can help you understand my points umm, thats all i got 4 now : )
that's why u were fired, standing out is helpful
First thing I thought of was Milton. Also, likely not BS because this stuff does happen. This also sounds like a part time job most likely since there aren't as many full time jobs where you can just get people to cover shifts like this. If it is actually a part time job, then the OP cannot collect unemployment.
