#4 is right just call the guy until he gives you you tip
For #27, and any others who are so dumb as to think the US system makes any remote sense at all. Tipping is optional, OPTIONAL! Its there so you can encourage good waiters and waitresses. If someone is stupid enough to work for 2$/hr and this in a country that taxes them for "assumed" (ASS' umed) earnings on tips - then THEY DESERVE IT!. Don't like it get a real job, one which pays for your work instead of hoping people you encounter take pity on you enough to cover what your employer should have given you.
honestly, maybe he thought if he didnt tip you well, you'd call to bitch him out and then he'd explain he did it so you'd call. He was probably trying a weird flirt tactic. If i were you I'd call him, sound mad, and say "well i guess now you owe me dinner". Maybe he went about it the wrong way but you can totally turn this situation around.
Also, you probably threw out the number of a guy that could have been a really sweet guy. He definitely wouldn't have bothered giving you anything if he was just cheap and after such a small tip he wouldn't have left his number and really thought you'd call unless he had something specific in mind
it's pretty much a standard rule, the wait you treat your waiter/waitress reflects your personality. There are some crappy personalities in this thread. #2, the reason she was probably indigent is because she did everything right, and still got .26 cents. It's a job, it's common courtesy to tip if they don't mess up. Servers get around 2 bucks an hour and make their money off of tips; way to be a jackass.
If I had to pick between 26 cents and a cute chick's phone number I know what I'd choose.
Not a FML... but it wasn't very smart of him to give you such a crappy tip if he wanted to go out with you
Some of you are total assholes. Do you realize what would happen if waitressing was like other "real jobs" (because that doesn't sound haughty at all, you ****) and they were paid minimum wage instead of relying on tips? The food would be much more expensive. You would pay for it that way instead of deciding how good you think the service is. It's better for you that there's a tipping system instead of mandatory, simply because then you can say, in monetary form, how good you think the service was. And no one's service is worth only a quarter, unless they literally never talked to you or insulted you outright. Some of you are cheap as **** and you make me feel bad for waiters/waitresses.
Maybe the rest of the tip will come later in his bed? That bites, though. I always tip at least 20%.
should have left you .69

I agree- call him up and bitch him out a bit. Do it from a pay phone so he doesn't have your number to harass you, but tell him that if he can't afford to tip he can't afford to eat out. If he stiffs you like that, it's actually costing you money- you get taxed on a percentage of the food you sell, because the government assumes that you'll get at least a 10% tip. Educate the fool!
And Code_Monkey, if she's a waitress (which I assume she is), then there is absolutely nothing wrong with her attitude. Waiters and waitresses make almost all their money from tips--their wages are next to nothing. It's also considered extremely bad form to tip less than 15%. So unless she is a truly terrible waitress, this guy is either clueless or incredibly rude.
