I was in Nova Scotia once, it was more than that..
Nova Scotia is practically the UK
Tell them that you don't know what they're talking aboot.
So it's not just Americans who ask those questions
Same, but I was in Alaska. "Did you live in an igloo? Have pet penguins/polar bear? Did you ever ride a moose? Do you know what internet/computers are? Did you have power?" It hurts the level that people dropped to. They were genuine too.
I told someone once that I lived in a solar powered igloo. They thought I was serious.
Ask them where mount doom is
I'm Swiss and since I moved to the US as a kid people kept asking me if I spoke Swedish.
Es tut mir leid. Wir sind nicht alles totale Idioten. Du musst es weißt jetzt.
Being from Texas, I get genuinely asked all the time if I ride a horse to school, own multiple cowboy hats, know how to use a lasso (and have I used one?). For the record, I live in a suburb, very normal. (I do own boots and a hat, but that's not relevant)
Actually, we ride polar bears more so than moose. How else are we suppose to get our poutine on our way to the hockey game on time, eh?
And here I thought us Americans were clueless.
Oh you are, just not the only ones apparently.

Well... Do you?
