Today, at the café I work at, I was yelled at by a woman because the drinks and food she ordered were "taking too long". Before I had the chance to get a word in, she stormed out and said she would never come back. I didn't get the chance to inform her that she hadn't ordered yet. FML

Today, I was yelled at by a customer, who was upset over having waited twenty minutes for a waiter to come take her order. Maybe it would be understandable, if she was sitting in an actual restaurant, and not a serve-yourself coffee house. FML

Today, while at work, a customer refused to speak louder, despite me asking her to do it several times. As a result, I took her order incorrectly. The customer then finally decided to raise her voice, but only to yell at me about my poor listening skills. FML

Today, at work, a customer came in and ordered a "Butterbeer Frappuccino." When I said we serve no such thing, she yelled at me for "lying" to her, saying she knew about our "secret menu." She ended up complaining to my manager and demanded that he fire me. FML

Today, while working as a barista, a customer yelled about her muffins and butter not being ready since she only had a "short time to eat". There were 7 tip giving customers ahead of her, but I rushed her order. She gave no tip and stayed for over an hour. FML

Today, I was working when an older lady came up to buy a coffee. Her son cried for a cup of whipped cream to snack on. She shook her head, silently telling me to say no. I said we were out. The mother took her drink and said, "I'm sorry honey, but the mean man said you couldn't have any." FML

Today, while working the drive-through, a woman ordered a large coffee with four creams. I handed her the coffee, and she took a sip. She then hurled it at me, screaming, "I said four creams, not five!" and sped off, leaving me drenched in hot coffee. FML

Today, at work, I got to wait on one of those tables where everyone had very complex orders, and some of them sent their food back. When the time finally came for me to bring them their check and receive my well-earned tip, I returned only to discover that they'd dined and dashed. FML

Today, at work, I was trying to repeat an order back to this guy, when his drunk girlfriend started to interrupt me. Whenever I would open my mouth, she would say "Blah blah blah." Literally. Eventually, I gave up. I got his order wrong, and got yelled at by my manager for not repeating his order. FML

My qualified guess is that she tried to scam you into believing that she already had ordered and paid, but left in a hurry when she realised that your superior wasn't there to say "Give her what she wants, quickly!"

What has happened to respect, common courtesy, and good communication? I am in no way condoning her behavior. There is no excuse to be rude to somebody like that. Although, she may have had a bad day/night. Perhaps a family emergency, life stresses, ironically...work issues or home issues. Whether it's right or wrong, people may sometimes lash out at others when they are stressed, scared, or overwhelmed. Of course, she could just be your average bitch, too. Have a better day at work!

Having a crappy day is no excuse to treat service workers like shit. Maybe it's because I've been doing it my whole working life, but I cannot be rude to someone behind the counter. I've had days where I've been angry to the point of wanting to kill someone, but still try to smile at the store/restaurant/etc. Hell, it kind of helps my anger to be friendly and courteous and have it returned to me. I feel better, the clerk/cashier/server has one less asshole to deal with, and I feel it makes the world just a little bit nicer.

Once she realizes later how dumb she was she probably really won't ever go back. Most people like that wouldn't have the decency to laugh at themselves and go back to apologize.
