Today, while at work, I was asked if I wanted to leave early. I said no and let my coworker go instead. Two hours later, I was punched in the face by one of my patients, with absolutely no warning or provocation. FML

He's a psych worker. He let his co-worker go home early and then got punched in the face by a patient. If the OP had chosen to leave early, he co-worker would have gotten punched instead. So the OP was punished for being nice.

I fail to see how this is an FML. What happened to you was pure coincidence. It was equally plausible that you had met the woman of your dreams instead, if you were single, or the camera crew showed up for some reason and you got to be on TV.

I hear you OP, I have some violent clients at my work too. Ill get punched in the head several times with no warning for no obvious reason at all. It really sucks. Next time, go home, these offers come around for a reason

To anyone that commented that the OP deserved it, next time you're sick and call 9-1-1 for an ambulance, remember that the reason paramedics or EMTs show up is because people like the OP willingly take a thankless, dangerous job to save YOUR ass.
