Gratitude walks

Today, it's my soon to be 12 year-old daughter's birthday. On my break at work I texted her how much I loved her and happy birthday. She replied with, "K, when will you be home? Mom won't let me open presents until you're here." Good to know I'm loved. FML

When I was 12, I had my first phone -_- but it was for practical reasons since the middle school was kind of far. Anyways but I was never spoiled, cause if I was my parents wouldn't have it (Asians :D ) I think it all depends on how well the parents raise their kids. Besides, why compare 2 different ages? :/ Ok, so back then the cool things were DS's and portable cd players and all that stuff. Now it's just cellphones, touch screen innovation and the best-new technology. It's just what we grow up with and around to. But I do agree, there's always that kid that takes things for granted. But as for OP, hope she'll grow up and show some respect because I don't think it's hit her yet how one day, there'll be a birthday where you won't even be there anymore :(

Awwww, she does love you, she's just got a one-track mind right now. I still talk to my daddy that way and I'm turning 23 next month. But I do it specifically to be obnoxious.

...Why does your twelve-year-old have a cell phone?

Does it bother anyone else that he was texting his daughter to tell her happy birthday? I feel like that's just as rude as her reply. Texting is so impersonal.

You want to know what MY question is, for all you idiots? WHAT 12 YEAR OLD DOESN'T HAVE A PHONE?!?! Hm? I've had mine since I was 10. The exact same phone. In this day and age, kids need one, once they get to middle school or get to be 11. It should be a prepaid phone, so they can learn responsibility. I pay $10 for 100 minutes a month; and that's 300 texts. Lots of texts. So paying $15 for a phone, and $10 a month for minutes isn't torture, especially if your child's in sports or activities after school.

Your kid needs to be more polite. Why does she have a cellphone at 12?

I got a phone when i was 9 but only because my dad lived in england for half of every year and wanted me to contact him. The was the only reason i was allowed a phone. I couldnt start using it with my friends until i was 12 and in highschool. I think most of you people have got the wrong idea with mobile phones because i am now 14 and have never been rude to someone using my phone. It was probably just that particular girl. Who wiuldnt want to open their presents? Except i do agree she could have been less rude.

I dont get it... if its her 12 year old daughter.. why is the girl talking about her mom not allowing her to open presents? Or is it her step father?

What the **** are you talking about, buddy?

It's perfectly normal to have a cellphone at 12. I got mine at 8.

For my 11th birthday my parents didn't have a lot of money so they got me a puzzle that was the best frickin puzzle ever! Lol

On behalf of the entire world of preteens and teenagers, I apologize.
