Today, I introduced my girlfriend to my dad. I thought it was a good idea at the time, at least until he took her aside for a private chat. During the chat, he told her all about my two previous marriages and advised her to "get out while you can". FML

Today, I took my girlfriend to meet my parents. My dad thought it'd be hilarious to act surprised and ask me if I'd already dumped the girlfriend I introduced him to yesterday. She slapped me and stormed out of the house before my dad could tell her it was a joke. FML

Today, I introduced my girlfriend to my parents over lunch. Unfortunately, I showed my dad her Facebook profile beforehand and he wouldn't stop making cracks about her duckfacing. It started with, "Don't let her eat the bread, it'll puff up in her stomach and kill her", and ended in tears. FML

Today, my dad told me he was planning to have his steady girlfriend over for dinner. He's only had a few relationships since he and my mom split up when I was very young, so I was excited to meet the woman. He then told me that I knew her already. My dad is dating my aunt on my mothers side. FML

To me, it would be ironic if your dad was divorced multiple times. It would run in the family, and not be your fault. Not that I wish that on your family, I just thought it would be something you could use against him.

Papa, don't preach! No? Father knows best? ok ok, but seriously, he makes it sound like getting married to you is being led to execution or something... How did your previous marriages fall out? Maybe Op's dad is a meddling jerk but eh, both sides need to elaborate on their cases more before i hit either FYL or YDI.
