take it as a compliment! you look good for your age:)
People, remember this PLEASE: Telling someone they look young is a compliment. A very nice compliment. Telling someone they look like a little kid is rude and insulting. There's a HUGE difference between "wow! You look young!" and "wow you look like a little kid!" In my late 20s/early 30s I was working in a middle school (6th and 7th graders) and got asked at least once a week by parents what grade I was in, why I wasn't in class, etc. And I was wearing nice clothes and make-up. I'll be 35 in 2 months the other day what grade I'd be in when school starts. I get called a little girl all the time. Being told that I'd appreciate that when I'm older and that it's good to look young seriously infuriate me. Those of you that have said that on this thread: Would YOU appreciate being called a little girl/boy? Would YOU appreciate being asked what grade you're in?
I'm 17 and can't even buy 12 rated films at my local film and music store. When I tell people my real age they get really surprised. I'm only 5ft as well.
The commenters saying "You should be thankful" or "You should take it as a compliment" must have no idea what it's like to not be taken seriously due to the perception that they are younger than they actually are. There's a BIG difference between being complimented for youth and addressed as a child. OP should write an angry letter to corporate, because that kind of patronizing behavior is absolutely unacceptable in the service industry.
When that happens to me, I order a beer. Then I sit back and enjoy the look on their face when they card me.
I know exactly how you feel OP. I'm 4' 11" and often get asked what year I am in primary school even though I'm 21
I seem to get the opposite of a lot of the commenters. I get asked what college I go to, if I would like to sample some wine, or take a survey, etc. I'm still in highschool. I don't dress like a ***** (all of my clothes are actually crew-neck band tees and baggy jeans), or wear makeup, or any of that. I'm just tall. People can generally figure out my age if they look at my babyface and not how I'm taller than them and rather full figured. No, I'm not saying I'm full figured to cover up for being fat (even though medically I am overweight. No one can tell though), I actually do have an hourglass figure. tl;dr I look older than I am because I'm tall. Sorry about the paragraph. Wee, long comments!
No worries. I'm married and pregnant and had a woman at a wedding I recently attended make a comment about me being 10 when we said we were expecting.

Just think, when you're ninety you won't look a day past thirty! :)
That's sort of a good thing to look young;)
