*signing as witness* all nice and tidy :)
So maybe you should have chosen a real major? Music is, unless you are extremely gifted or exceptionally pretty, not a good major to take. I would never hire anyone with a music major, I'd rather have somrone from a community college with a real degree!
why the **** would anyone major in music
because, if u plan it right, u can actually make a career out of it... and if ur that damn good
this is why I hate those "follow your dream" movie. always givin kids the wrong message. geez
do you actually enjoy what your doing right now?
I was under the impression you did not practice. How do you memorize without practicing? Osmosis? Way to contradict yourself. Also, a school of music is a division of a bigger university. It does not mean a school devoted specifically to music. Are you sure you are even in college? Do you ride a bus to school that only has 4 rows of seats? Man, I wish I could be like you. The fact I realize I can type only the first two letters of American to get my point across does not make me dumb, but efficient. Speaking of efficiency, I have spent 7 years on the bassoon and play professionally. You have spent 16 years on the piano to achieve a gold star at Nana's piano jamboree. I didn't get a 30 on my ACT, but I'm pretty sure 16 is more than 7. If being mediocre is good enough for you, then I am proud of you. Let me know when you have Rachmainoff piano concerto 2 or Liszt B minor sonata memorized and perhaps I will take you seriously. But then again you would have to practice them and you don't do that so good luck playing the two hardest pieces written for piano. I play with people that come from the best music schools in the country (Julliard, Eastman, Oberlin) and we all practice every day. But continue to think that you are good at what you do by the number of instruments you play or the number of ensembles you play in or the number of family members you play for. Genuine musicians strive for quality, not quantity.
Rach 3 = INFINITELY more difficult than Rach 2
I ment to say the 3rd concerto. Even the orchestra accompaniment is difficult.
http://www.ropaweb.org/component/option,com_dbquery/Itemid,113/ I am in one of these orchestras.
I have la Canpanella, pictures at an exibition and Rachmaninoff prelude in c# minor memorized and I'm in second year college music program.
haha, ^^ wtf long comment. but anyways, fml for reading this.
Think of it this way: when the holidays come around, you can go work for burger king. Ding fries are done.
WTF, I wrote a huge long comment and it all got deleted. Long story short: I got my music theory/composition degree three years ago, still babysitting, but my BF makes six figures (age 25) so if I stick with him I should be okay if I'm only a theory teacher or something. You should look into teaching your instrument or something. Also, check out if churches nearby need a choir director or accompanist or something, depending on your instrument (mine's voice). FYL, but being a music major is totally worth it (and totally NOT easy, anyone who says otherwise obviously never tried it).
write a hit then you' ll be ok if you are good enough

Quit whining, all of us musicians know the risk we're taking when we try to make it a career.
Go back and get another degree- one with some form of job security. You should have known any art degree wouldn't get you anywhere especially in this economy.
