An engagement ring is part of a contract. Simply, if she marries you, she gets the ring. If she doesn't, then it must be returned to you. Legally. Sometimes it can get difficult if you give it on her birthday or Christmas, but for the most part, it's legally cut and dry, If she doesn't agree to marry you and attempts to keep the ring, call the cops. It's theft, plain and simple. And keep your receipt. I'm sorry this went south for you, but you are at least entitled to your ring back. I hope things go well for you. And don't wait too long to call the police.
It's very much NOT cut-and-dry. Engagement ring contract law is very sticky, confusing, and often up to the whim of the court depending on circumstances. In "simple" cases like a jilted groom, however, it's usually simple - he gets the ring back. But it varies by country and state.
Did OP say or do something troubling between ring and dash? Without knowing, can't say FYL or YDI.
Some girls.. Sorry OP. :( Be a little optimistic. She might have gone to show it off. :) If not though, at least you know her well enough to find her. I hope. Then you can get your money back. :)
Hmm OP, if you proposed to her, I guess it's safe to assume that you have known her for a while and therefore know where she lives. It's up to you to find out what happened.
I laughed. I don't think any female thieves would bother spending so much time in a relationship with an average joe to steal engagement rings. If they were gonna do that they'd pick someone rich.
she probably went to go get it appraised

O ye of little faith, OP. she was just going to tell her friends she's getting married! And driving away to see her family. And blocking your number because she's getting a new phone. And leaving the country because..she...um, okay, maybe she ditched you.
Or she had to go show it off?
