Today, I went out with a girl I've been dating. I dropped her off and she finally asked me if I wanted to come in. When I did, she asked me to change a light bulb in her kitchen, and then promptly sent me home. FML

Sounds like she changed her mind and used that as an excuse because changing a light bulb isn't that difficult.

This is kind of embarrassing, but I beg to differ. I have these weird ceiling lamps and I can never get the case to unscrew while balancing on a chair. So I can't even get to the light bulb to change it. So, for me anyway, it is that difficult.

you can purchase a bulb screwed (no OP) that basically is as long as a broom handle. long enough to reach your ceiling without needing a chair

Maybe she was making a point that she was completely happy to let you wait. Just the way you've phrased it; 'finally' makes me think you're hovering around her hoping for a shag. I may be wrong though.

If you are thinking "FML" because you didn't get laid, and instead did something nice for someone, then I think your priorities are a little off and SHE dodged the bullet on this one. Good for her.

If she invited him in and then only had him do a favour, she's not that nice of a person. Instead of trading on OP's attraction to her, she could have said "Before you go, can you do me a favour....." and made it completely clear what she was after.

Agreeing with 59. It would honestly be messed up on HER part if she in invited him in with unclear motives. If she was honest from the beginning, I am certain OP would still help her out (they have been dating according to the FML) and he also wouldn't have had any expectations. But as always, FMLs never have the full story on both sides.
