Today, my girlfriend's mother insisted she's not homophobic, but however people only 'turn gay' because they were sexually abused, or are 'making it up to get attention'. She informed me I'm the former and my girlfriend is the latter. Uh huh. FML

Not seeing an issue here. Also, bisexuals were only half abused or only want half attention, and asexuals either had invisible parents or have the ability to control electricity. Simple human sexuality, OP.

They don't have to understand. As long as they accept, the understanding will come later. Most people grew up with very twisted ideas on what being gay is and is not about and the fact that she did not reject her kid immediately is a huge. We need to give credit to the mom that she is even willing to try at all. Sure she can do better but that takes time.

Okay I honestly don't care how many negative votes this receives. I understand this sounds rude but it's not homophobic. Homophobia is a hatred or fear of homosexuals, she is expressing neither hatred or fear.

People are people and you can't base people on the preference of what sexuality they do like or base people on color because this is done how you judge a person you judge a person by respect and integrity and honesty color and sexual preference are not a good basis to judge someone for sure and it's disrespectful and disgusting and small minded so if you wish to judge somebody Because of these things maybe you should look at the kind of mother your girlfriend has. Thank God most of us have made it out of the Neanderthal way of thinking, it sounds like your girlfriends mother is a throwback to the stereotyping of the name-calling and racial slur's
